The Head Scarf: A Perfect Solution To a Bad Hair Day

  • A head scarf

  • …is not just dressy and classic,  but also sporty and casual when you want it to be.  It is the perfect solution to a “bad hair” day.  A chic head scarf worn in the hair is bound to turn heads whether you wrap it around a ponytail, wear it as a bandana or tie a bow at the side of your face.  Who can forget the classy elegance of Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn in their head scarves?

Every scarf is sheer magic created in cotton, silk, pashmina, rayon and a variety of other materials. Major designers like Fendi, and Burberry are promoting designer scarves with exquisite embroidery and designs to unfurl the beauty of the feminine accessory.

  • Head scarves

  • …can be either wrapped around the head and kept in place with pins or you can use the elastic band attached to this scarf to keep it in place. However, you can do more with a head scarf than just wrapping it around the head.  You can use your scarf as a hair band to keep hair out of your eyes. This can be easily done by folding the scarf lengthwise and wrapping it across the forehead and then taking it either across the ears or behind the ears, and tying it at the nape of the neck. You can either let the ends of the scarf hand loose or tuck them into the band.

You can also use it to glamorize a simple ponytail. Fold the scarf lengthwise and wrap it twice around the ponytail. You can secure the wrap by means of a square knot. This looks very elegant with an evening wear. You can experiment a little bit by tying the ends into a bow.

  • The classic head scarf

  • …is just right to give you the Grace Kelly look. Fold your scarf into a triangle and drape it over your head. The long edge of the triangle should be just above your hairline and tie them neatly behind.  If you do not want the classic look, you can opt for a smart head wrap. All you need to do is fold your scarf into a triangle, and drape it over your head with the long edge across your forehead. The two ends of the scarf have to taken to the back and tied with a neat square knot.

A casual or a smart look can be obtained by means of a turban. It will definitely keep your hair in place on a windy day.  Fold your scarf into a triangle and drape it over your head with the long edge of the head scarf across your forehead. Now take the two ends of the scarf to the nape of your neck and tie in a single knot. Then bring the ends back up to your forehead and tie the ends to give you chic look.

You can use these “fashion statements” for any occasion — be it on a beach, a walk down an avenue or even at a formal party.  The sheer elegance and colorful trendiness of the head scarf just makes you yearn to wear it all day long!
