How To Tie The Square Scarf!

Ever wonder what to do with that square scarf that your very fashionable and very best friend gave you for your birthday? Well, you are in luck, because there are so many different things that you can do with it, you’ll be thanking your friend for years to come for giving it to you. Your simple little square scarf is about to become one of your most favorite accessories and you’ll be sure to take it with you wherever you may travel.

This fashion statement can be worn in so many different ways.
Believe it or not, that square shape is the most versatile shape there is for scarves. You can fold it, roll it, or drape it in so many more ways than you would be able to do with rectangular shaped scarves or wraps. One great use for your scarves is as hair accessories. There are at least three different styles to try out; the head band, the pony tail tie, and the head wrap or kerchief. For a head band, simply fold your material in half, making a triangle, next take the point that has two corners meeting, and start rolling towards the straight side. You will now have a cylinder-shape that can be used to hold your hair back and tied underneath. Use this same fold to tie around a ponytail holder.

To make your square scarf into a head wrap, simply fold it in half and into a triangle.
Lay the triangle over your head and tie the two side ends underneath your hair. You can either let your hair hang loose, or tuck it up into the scarf and then tuck the third corner of your triangle under your already tied knot. This is a very neat look for the beach or running errands when you don’t have time to do your hair, or for protecting your highlights from bleaching out at the beach. If your square scarf is a bit longer, you can let the ends hang down and add some larger earrings for a great evening look.

A larger square scarf can also be used as a wrap.
Simply fold it into your triangle shape again and wrap around your shoulders. You can then choose to secure your wrap with either a loose knot or dress it up with a shiny pin. Your square scarf can also make that plain wool coat into a dressy and stunning outer garment. This time fold it in half and into a rectangle. Keep repeating the fold until it is narrow enough to fit over your shoulder. Secure in place with another pretty pin. There are many other ways to wear your scarves as well, the best way to find the style that works for you is to sit in front of a mirror and play with it and have fun.
