What Men Really Think about Women’s Fashion

  • Scarves and fashion

  • …most women spend a ton of time looking through fashion magazines,  television shows, and surfing for info and accessories on the internet.  While looking and feeling good about yourself is an important part… most women really dress to get the attention of men… or so they think.  I interviewed a few single men to see what they really thought about women’s fashion and scarves.  Here is what they had to say:

    Real Man #1: 33-year-old Dentist
The first man I spoke to was a divorced single with no children.  He lives in a small town and works as a dentist. He loves to collect art and work on his home. He watches sports but isn’t obsessed with them. He enjoys attending live music shows and watching movies.  When I asked him about what he thought about the fashion clothes and scarves he saw women wearing, his first reaction was that he was the wrong guy to ask. When I inquired as to why, he said that he really didn’t pay any attention to fashion at all. I told him that made him the perfect guy to ask because I wasn’t looking for any type of expert opinion, but only what normal men love and hate to see women wear.

    Fashion Style and Scarves

He proceeded to tell me that he hated to see women in clothing that looked overdone or uncomfortable. He said he was attracted to a woman who was natural and casual.  To him a woman who looks like she didn’t try too hard and looks like she is comfortable means that she is probably a woman who is comfortable in the rest of her life and easy to get along with.  He has several girls who work in his office and are very fashion forward and he said he doesn’t find them attractive at all. To him, all the makeup, complicated clothing, and uncomfortable footwear means those girls are probably too shallow and intense for his tastes.

    Real Man #2: 39-year-old Pharmacist:
The next guy I spoke to was a pharmacist at a mental hospital. He has never been married and has no children. He says he has spent most of his life focusing on his career and now he is ready to “settle down”.  He recently built a new home in an upscale subdivision and spends most of his spare time relaxing at home.  I was tempted to ask him about the fashion at his workplace, but decided it would be in bad taste.  When I asked him about what he loved to see women wear, he quickly responded that he loves to see women who dress like a sexy librarian with fashion scarves.  He, like many other men I have spoken to in recent months, thinks that Sarah Palin is incredibly hot. I asked for him to clarify what exactly constituted the sexy librarian look and he said that it is the perfect combination of confidence and sophistication but with an underlying air of mystery.

He continued to explain that he really appreciated women who were able to dress feminine yet leave a little to the imagination. He said that one of the things he really hates to see women wear are fashion items like sleeveless shirts in the winter. He felt that it just looked ridiculous and that they were trying to hard to be sexy. Another thing he loved to see women wear were high boots.  He said he would be sad for spring to come and not see women wearing them as much. When I mentioned ankle boots, he laughed. He said they look like shoes that they forgot to finish and weren’t the same at all.
